UTOPIA is pleased to present Petite Pagaille, Rémy Proisy’s first solo exhibition.

Rémy Proisy has spent the year exploring the visual and sensory possibilities of velvet. The artist brings together everyday objects and references to classical painting, playing on the contrast between raw wood and fragile fabric. Across a series of twenty works, Proisy approaches still life from many angles: costumes, lamps, nudes, portraits, and marionettes. Each subject is rendered in monochrome French velvet, transforming familiar forms into soft, tactile and slightly mysterious. Flowers, figures, and objects shift between painting and textile, surface and shadow, inviting the viewer to look closely and to look again.
